“Krasny Kotelshchik” widens the warehouse possibilities of the Works
The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) is realizing an ambitious investment program. During the first half of 2025, the enterprise received more than 30 pieces of up-to-date process equipment. One of the most striking instance of the Works infrastructure refresh was the launch of a new gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 30 tons. It was installed at one of the warehouse sites providing the production with plates and sheet metal.
This up-to-date hoisting equipment is a custom –made for TKZ and manufactured by the Russian manufacturer. Thanks to its smart design and expanded working area, the crane is capable to move large-scale materials, i.e. plate metal weighing over 10 tons and used for manufacture of parts and units of power equipment for the Russian energy sector.
The crane is fully adapted to operating conditions: it can effectively perform tasks in outdoor area, withstanding a wide temperature range with reference to season change.
An additional advantage of the crane is the possibility of using magnets, which ensure reliable operation with bulk sheet and plate metal. This is especially actual for the current production program of TKZ, within the framework of which the range of used products and materials is expanding.
New hoisting equipment not only fully conforms to safety requirements while performing handling operations, but is notable for multipurposeness in operation: an operator can operate the crane both from the cabin and remotely by radio control. The crane is fairly simple to operate hence the personnel training period is minimized.
– Retrofit is one of the focus area for a long-term development strategy at our enterprise. We are realizing ambitious investment projects aimed at modernization of production and auxiliary facilities including the replacement of hoisting equipment. We can witness how introduced up-to-date solutions generate essential economic and operational effect. As a result, the costs for maintenance and repair of out-of-date equipment is reducing, production capacity is increasing and the stability of the key production processes is being ensured, – noticed the Director of Maintenance and Repairs at TKZ Roman Zhernokleev.
Particularly, this crane replaced the out-of-date hoisting equipment manufactured 60 years ago, the long term of operation of which had a negative impact on the work quality. As a result, the risks of disruption of sheet and plate metal deliveries from a warehouse to production have been reduced and the time for unloading materials arriving at the Works has been reduced.
