“Krasny Kotelshchik” Put New Control Equipment in Service
The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) expanded its fleet of control equipment with home-made stationary hardness gages. These instruments allow measuring hardness of both input materials and finished fasteners according to Russian and foreign standards.
Two out of three purchased instruments measure Brinell hardness. One of them is used for quality control of parts after heat-treatment thereof in the mechanized assembly workshop of TKZ. The other one was given to the destructive testing department; using the instrument the qualification and control hardness measurements of welded joints and of the parts received at the company are carried out including the measurements being conducted in the presence of NPP inspection agencies.
These hardness gages are easy to operate, they guarantee high accuracy of measurements and minimum human factor effect on the measurement output. The instruments are equipped with a microprocessor block which allows performing automatic tests and provides the hardness measurement relative accuracy specified in respective GOST standards.
The third hardness gage purchased by TKZ is designed to measure Vickers hardness. Using it, specialists of the destructive testing department inspect base metal and control welded joints. The instrument is also used for welding procedure qualification and heat treatment technology elaboration.
This control equipment allows performing the required investigation quickly and with high accuracy. The hardness gage is equipped with an automatic loading system in a range of 0.3-10 kg, digital indication of parameters, 100x, 200x magnifying lens, hardness calculation and statistics processing software. Such set of functions significantly extends technical capabilities of laboratory assistants and reduces testing time.
