“Krasny Kotelshchik” Purchased Metal Thermal Cutting Equipment
The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) commissioned the thermal cutting machine. Depending on the specific production needs it can cut sheets and plates made of both carbon and stainless steel.
At TKZ this machine will be used first of all for manufacturing shaped parts along with the edge preparation required for high-quality welding of product edges. Later on, these parts will be used for assembly of cross-over pipes for nuclear power plants. These products will be manufactured by the steel structure workshop where the new equipment is installed.
In general, this is the multifunctional machine capable to perform three main functions. With plasma cutting it can manufacture parts of any shape preparing edges in Х and V design. Plasma and gas-oxygen cutting allows manufacturing shaped parts with a vertical edge. Using the gas-oxygen cutting it is possible cutting straps of metal with nine torches at a time.
A machine of such functionality is the first in the machine fleet of TKZ. It is characterized by a number of design features which allow expanding the production capabilities in a significant way. In particular, owing to a powerful source of plasma current a machine operator can cut plates of stainless steel up to 45 mm thick, earlier such metal thickness was maximum 20 mm.
One more advantage is a high environmental safety. The machine is equipped with a filter-ventilator unit which protects the working area from gas and dust forming in process of machine operation and which discharges clean air into the workshop. Particular attention is given to personnel safety. The machine is equipped with protection light and mechanical barriers and can automatically switch off in case of accidental entry of people in its working area.
