“Krasny Kotelshchik” introduces innovative non-destructive testing solutions
The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) has purchased brand new radiographic testing equipment – two digital radiography systems.
These systems are good example of state-of-the-art radiographic technologies. The equipment to be used by certified quality inspectors is designed as compact digital units, which allow for autonomous operation in field conditions with the provision of battery. Such operating flexibility makes it possible to use them in any non-destructive testing area or in the production site.
The main intended use of the new systems is radiographic testing of the welds of thickness up to 200 mm. Fundamental difference of the new machines from the existing ones lies in reusable storage plates instead of conventional radiographic film. Consequently, labor-consuming image processing operations are minimized and consumption of radiographic film and chemical reagents is reduced.
Special scanner and powerful laptop with installed unique software help to read images of the tested welds and process test results. The images are stored in digital format. It is much easier to use digital media. Besides, its initial quality is maintained ensuring radiographic test data safety and integrity.
